Patients from many work backgrounds can experience a work-related orthopedic injury. Injuries to the shoulder and knee can occur during a fall, from blunt trauma to the joint, from repetitive movements or during an automobile accident on company time.
If your orthopedic injury is due to an accident in the work place, please be sure to contact your employer immediately and inform them of your injury. All appointments must be scheduled by the employer or representative of the workers’ compensation provider. Southern California Orthopedic Institute will need to receive authorization from your employer before we can process any medical claims. Failure to properly report your work injury to your employer may result in your claims being denied. Denied claims will be your responsibility.
If you are involved in a work injury, the following information must be obtained and verified prior to your visit with Dr. Getelman:
- Date of Injury
- Case or claim number
- WCAB#, if applicable
- Workers’ compensation carrier information
- Adjuster’s name
- Adjuster’s telephone number
- Employer
- Insurance updates
Due to frequent changes in insurance plans and the benefits offered under those plans, the Southern California Orthopedic Institute staff is required to review and update your insurance information on a regular basis.
